Tamara Murphy, PA
My interest in medicine began early in life as an elementary school student; I was fascinated with the workings of the human body. For a research project in the 6th grade, I was studying the heart and audited a CPR class as part of my research. At the end of the class, the instructor offered me to take the exam. I agreed, took the exam, passed it and thus began a life journey into the field of medicine.
Having worked as a ski patroller and paramedic for more than 15 years, I graduated from the Red Rocks Physician Assistant program in 2009. Since graduation, I have enjoyed working as a physician assistant in the emergency room at Saint Joseph Hospital, which I still do part-time.
I joined First Internal Medicine in 2011 to discover how rewarding the relationship of caring for and getting to know my patients can be. I enjoy educating my patients about the “why” behind their symptoms and helping them understand their choices and how they can help themselves.
When I am not at work, you can find me in the outdoors, on top of a snow-covered mountain, downhill skiing, hiking, camping and biking; and of course, spending much of this time with my two amazing children, Rachael and Ian.
